North Jersey's Bridge Studio for the Performing Arts excitedly announces the addition of André De Shields to their amazing lineup of performers for their 3rd annual variety show, entitle SHOWSTOPPERS. SHOWSTOPPERS will take place on Saturday, March 9th at 7:30PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (344 Washington Ave., Dumont, NJ). Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. A consummate showman, De Shields has been wowing audiences for over 4 decades, as an actor, singer, director, novelist, choreographer and educator. Fame found him as he was cast as the title character of the celebrated musical The Wiz in 1975. He has performed on stage, screen and TV and has garnered many awards including Tony nominations, Drama Desk Awards and an Emmy for his work on the NBC presentation of Ain't Misbehavin. On March 9th, De Shields will offer a magical treat to audiences as he brings to life the colorful life of the Wizard of Oz when he performers a selection from The Wiz. "We are so very excited that Mr. De Shields will bring his level of talent to the Dumont stage.
