On Friday, March 24 at 5:15 p.m., American Repertory Ballet will host "Preview of the Premiere," as part of its On Pointe series. This event will give audiences an in-studio preview of Artistic Director Douglas Martin's latest work - the full-length story ballet Pride and Prejudice. The dancers will perform excerpts of the choreography, and Martin will speak about his work.

"The ballet tells the story not only with the dance steps but with the continuous interaction of body language between the characters," Martin explains. "Each character will need to possess a unique movement style and posture."

The evening following this On Pointe, Saturday, March 25, American Repertory Ballet will hold its 2017 Gala Celebration, "Pride and Prejudice: An Evening of Timeless Elegance" at the Heldrich Hotel in Downtown New Brunswick.

The world premiere performances of Pride and Prejudice are on April 21 and 22 at McCarter Theatre in Princeton, N.J. with live accompaniment by the Princeton Symphony Orchestra. ARB's debut marks the first time Austen's writing has appeared as a full-length story ballet.

ARB launched On Pointe in 2010 to help make ballet more accessible to the community. The Enrichment Series brings guest speakers, lecture demonstrations, company performance previews, and panel discussions to seasoned dance enthusiasts and new students alike, on a monthly basis.
