The Peterborough Players Second Company's production of PINOCCHIO will open this Saturday, August 15th.

The Players' production of PINOCCHIO is based on Greg Banks' adaptation of the Carlo Collodi story. From the moment Gepetto creates him from a stick of wood, Pinocchio dreams of being a real boy. But will the all too tempting delights of puppet shows and Playland be too much for Pinocchio? When Gepetto is swallowed by a whale, it is up to this little puppet to show his courage and prove his love for his Papa is real. This is a new, fast-paced, story-within-a-story version of the classic Pinocchio tale.

PINOCCHIO is directed by Players' artistic director, Gus Kaikkonen. Miles Walter, a member of the Second Company, has written original music for the production.

The cast and crew of PINOCCHIO is the Player's Second Company which consists of a team of summer interns including actors and crafts staff. Earlier this season the Second Company presented a smash hit of another children's classic, "The Jungle Book."

The production will have 5 performances: August 15,18, 21, and 22 at 2 p.m. and August 17 at 7p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children.

The Second Company productions are sponsored exclusively by the Kingsbury Fund.
