Director Elaine Gatchell has chosen one of Neil Simon's funniest shows to open their 42nd Season at Leddy Center in Epping.

THE STAR SPANGLED GIRL is the story of a love triangle, mixed with politics. Like many of Simon's plays this one is of the boy-meets-girl, boy-gets-girl genre, and as Paul McCartney famously asked of silly love songs, "What's wrong with that?" It is witty, fast-paced, and oh, so entertaining.

Andy and Norman are radicals who barely make a living working on their magazine, Fallout, which is dedicated to fighting "the system" in 1960's America. Sophie, a former Olympic swimmer, is an all-American, Southern girl who moves into the apartment next door. It's love at first sight (or, as the play has it, first smell) for Norman, but his feelings are not reciprocated. Norman's obsession with Sophie makes Andy hire her just to keep the magazine going. Then comes the twist you'll have to come and see!

Starring John Seymour as Norman Cornell, Dan Holmes as Andy Hobart, and Melissa Opalka as Sophie Rauschmeyer, this is one play you will love from beginning to end.

Performances are March 11 through March 20, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays and one Wednesday, March 16, at 2:00pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online 24/7 at leddycenter.org, or by visiting or calling the box office at 603-679-2781, Monday through Friday, from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. Subscription Series (one ticket for each of our Season 2016 four shows and one concert) are still available for $90 (cash or check only) through the box office.

Leddy Center is celebrating its 42nd Season of bringing Broadway musicals and classic drama to our greater communities as a non-profit 501c3 NH Arts and Education Organization.
