All NHTP summer camps are held at our air-conditioned West End Studio Theatre, 959 Islington Street, in Portsmouth and provide students with the opportunity to create and present their work in a professional theatre venue. All instructors have extensive experience working with young people in both educational and theatrical settings. Camps will be led by NHTP Directors Genevieve Aichele and Meghann Beauchamp along with guest artists. NHTP camps emphasize artistic excellence, developmentally appropriate activities, critical thinking, ensemble, teamwork, and lots of summer fun!
Participants will explore the works of Chekhov, Shakespeare, Moliere, and other classical playwrights through script analysis, acting techniques and simple staging. Dress rehearsal will be held on Friday, July 1 and final performances will be held on July 2.
Kids Theatre Camp (ages 6-9), July 5-9, 2011
Time: 9am-Noon
Fee: $275 (includes $25 registration fee)
Now in its eleventh year, this popular week-long camp features creative drama, movement, and visual arts activities. Campers meet Tuesday through Saturday with a final performance at 6pm on Saturday, July 9. Limited to 14 campers.

Story Theatre Camp (ages 8-12), July 18-30, 2011NHTP's most popular camp has been a favorite of seacoast children for 16 years. Story Theatre Camp activities include acting, movement, writing, visual arts and music with an emphasis on ensemble performances based on children's literature and original writing by participants. Campers meet Monday-Friday, with final performances on Friday, July 29 at 7 PM and Saturday, July 30 at 11 AM & 2 PM. Limited to 20 campers.
Teen Theatre Camp (ages 13-17), July 5-17, 2011
Time: July 5-9, 1-4pm; July 11-15, 10am-4pm
Fee: $475 (includes $25 registration fee)
This intensive camp will focus on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Past Teen Camps have featured Comedy Through the Ages, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Dumas' The Three Musketeers. Participants will learn acting skills along with intensive vocal and physical techniques. Final productions will be presented Friday July 15 at 7 PM and Saturday July 16 at 2 PM & 7 PM. Limited to 20 campers.
