Long Wharf Theatre will now conclude its 2015-16 season with the musical My Paris. My Paris will replace Shining City on the schedule and run from May 4-29, 2016 on the Claire Tow Stage in the C.

Newton Schenck III Theatre. The show will open to the press on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 pm.

"Long Wharf Theatre is the beneficiary of an opportunity I simply can't pass up. I've found a musical that I believe will be an event, a joyous celebration of life, love, and art," said Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein.

My Paris is about the life and times of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Toulouse-Lautrec lovingly rendered the gaiety, color, and heartbreak of Montmartre, Le Can Can, and the world of Le Moulin Rouge. It's the story of a great artist that loved a world that never quite loved him back.

Charles Aznavour, the legendary performer known as the French Frank Sinatra, wrote the music and lyrics. The book is by Oscar, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winner Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy and The Last Night of the Ballyhoo), with English lyrics and musical adaptations by Tony-winner Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years). The production will be led by Tony-winning director and choreographer Kathleen Marshall (Nice Work If You Can Get It and Anything Goes). The musical originated at the The Norma Terris Theater in Chester in July 2015. "The creative team is among the most accomplished which we've had the opportunity to work with. I am certain it will be an exciting production," Edelstein said.
