Long before Johnny Depp swaggered his way across the Caribbean, a band of swashbuckling (but tenderhearted) pirates set hearts aflutter with their high seas hijinks. The New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP)' Pirates of Penzance will explode across the Capitol Center mainstage on Friday, October 21, 2016, with damsels in distress, a brash Pirate King, a delightfully dotty Major-General, and a score you will hum all the way home. This lavish production is the first free William H. Giles concert performance of the CCA's 2016-17 season.

Set on the coast of Cornwall, Pirates of Penzance tells the tale of how Frederic, who was mistakenly apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday, celebrates his coming of age with a sworn mission to exterminate piracy-until a ludicrous leap year snag threatens to keep him apprenticed to the pirates for life! NYGASP's vibrancy, energy and contemporary sense of humor keep the classic show alive and exciting to a modern audience.

Tickets for the free October 21 performance are limited to four per patron. They may be ordered by calling the Capitol Center for the Arts at (603) 225-1111 or online at www.ccanh.com. Tickets may also obtained at the CCA's box office at 44 South Main St., Concord, NH, which is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday andFriday from 11AM to 6PM and Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM.
