Pulitzer Winner Donald Margulies to Join Nashville Rep for 1/13-14 'REPaloud'

Nashville Repertory Theatre's REPaloud (Reading Excellent Plays Aloud) series continues with a special staged reading of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Dinner with Friends on January 13 and 14, 2015, including a talkback with playwright and 2014-15 Ingram New Works Fellow Donald Margulies on January 14.

Karen and Gabe, Beth and Tom. The two couples were once inseparable, the closest of friends who knew all the intimate details of each other's lives. Or so they thought. When Beth drops a bombshell on Karen and Gabe, everyone begins to evaluate their own lives and the paths they have chosen. This rich drama touched with humor is a true masterpiece, reflecting on marriage, friendship and the choices we all must make.

Readings of Dinner with Friends are Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14, at 7 P.M. each evening. A talkback will immediately follow each reading, with Wednesday's talkback to feature Dinner with Friends playwright Donald Margulies. REPaloud events are free for Nashville Rep Subscriber and Members, a $10 suggested donation for all non-subscribers or a $5 suggested donation for students and actors. Nashville Rep's cast for Dinner with Friends includes star of ABC's Nashville David Alford (Gabe), Shelean Newman (Karen), David Compton (Tom) and Shannon Hoppe (Beth). Dinner with Friends was written by Nashville Rep's Ingram New Works Fellow Donald Margulies and is directed by Nashville Rep's Producing Artistic Director René Copeland.

The Ingram New Works Project provides an opportunity for playwrights to develop new theatre works while in residency at Nashville Rep. Nashville Rep is proud to have Donald Margulies as this season's Ingram New Works Fellow. Margulies is a Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright and professor of English at Yale University. He served as Playwright-in-Residence at Sundance Playwright Conference for three summers, and has won a Lucille Lortel Award, an American Theatre Critics Award, two Los Angeles Drama Critics Awards, two OBIE Awards, two Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Awards, five Drama Desk Award nominations, two Pulitzer Prize nominations and one Pulitzer Prize.

Nashville Rep is a non-profit theatre bringing classic and contemporary theatre to Nashville that inspires empathy and prods intellectual and emotional engagement in audiences. The 2014-15 season also includes The Whipping Man, Death of a Salesman and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The season concludes with the Ingram New Works Festival in May, a showcase of new works created in Nashville for the American Theatre.

Performances of Dinner with Friends will be held in Nashville Rep's rehearsal hall: Studio A at Nashville Public Television, located at 161 Rains Avenue in Nashville.
