The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company, continues its 11th season with Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's charming two-person musical I Do! I Do! opening Friday at the theatre, located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tenn. for a run through June 11.

Just in time for the annual wedding season, the Boiler Room's production of I Do! I Do! celebrates old-fashioned matrimony in all its glory and heartbreak with this musical adaptation of Jan De Hartog's play "The Fourposter." Created by The Fantasticks creative team of Jones and Schmidt, this first two-person musical to hit Broadway won a Tony Award for original cast member Robert Preston.

The show follows Michael and Agnes, a couple at the turn of the last century, from mutual wedding-night jitters to  sadder-but-wiser old age.

"I Do! I Do! is one of those beautiful and often overlooked musicals," says Show Director and Broadway veteran Scott Logsdon. "The show's best known song, ‘My Cup Runneth Over', was a #1 hit in 1967 - the year that such songs as ‘Penny Lane,' ‘Respect' and ‘Light My Fire' also topped the charts. It's a story that will resonate with anyone who has been married or involved in a committed relationship. It follows a couple from their wedding night to the day 50 years later when they are leaving their home, having sold it to a younger couple. There is plenty of humor but there is also heartfelt emotion as these two archetypal characters face the challenges that pop up as they pursue their ‘happily ever after.'

"I am lucky enough to be able to consult with Tom Jones, the librettist and lyricist, of the show. We'll be including some recent revisions to the book he's made and it's been very helpful to go to the source and ask him exactly how and why the show was written for the original stars, theatrical icons Mary Martin and Robert Preston. I am thrilled to be working with Sondra Morton and Corbin Green - two incredibly talented actors who sing. I Do! I Do! is an intimate, beautiful and moving show and I am excited for audiences to join us as Michael and Agnes negotiate the challenges of keeping love alive in an ever changing world."

I Do! I Do! stars Nashville stage veterans Sondra Morton as Agnes and Corbin Green as Michael. Music direction is by acclaimed composer, conductor and director Jamey Green. Costume designs are by Melissa Cannon.
