Hudson Village Theatre's (HVT) Board of Directors has been very busy this spring with the annual matching donor campaign to raise funds in support of HVT programming. With a goal of $40,000 (to be matched by anonymous donors for a total of $80,000), the dedicated team is right on schedule. The June 30th deadline still gives theatre fans and culture buffs time to ante up in support of the local venue entering its twenty-second season.

HVT has more and more reasons for audiences to frequent the charming, venue. This summer, as part of its mandate to bring quality entertainment to the area, HVT is presenting the wildly popular Vinyl Café for two nights July 14 and 15, an event that sold out immediately. The good news just gets better with an unprecedented appearance, for one night only, of Quebec opera diva, Natalie Choquette, in La Diva and the Maestro on August 9, 2014 at 8pm.

A Maestro is trying to come to terms with eccentric, internationally renowned divas "La Fettuccini", "Fraulein Wienerschnitzel", "Nadia Camenitchaïkovskyaya", "Madam Osolemio" and many more. To the audience's ecstatic delight, these off-the-wall divas in outrageous costumes, perform the greatest hits of opera. From Verdi to Bizet via Gershwin and Puccini, in pristine voices, they deliver the operatic goods whilst doing a manicure or headstand, teasing the Maestro, dancing with a member of the audience, hanging their laundry, eating spaghetti or gargling with red wine! La Diva & le Maestro, an exhilarating and moving show that has enthralled many audiences worldwide, reflects the unbridled creativity of Natalie Choquette, a confirmed diva who never takes herself for... a Diva.

The HVT Board of Directors and Artistic Director are dedicated to casting HVT in a key role of cultural mecca for the West Island, Off-Island and Eastern Ontario districts, not to mention New England and the Laurentians. In addition to its programming, easy access from the highway, free and ample parking, local restaurants and bars, gift shops, a renowned flea market and a beach in the summer, make the venue a very attractive destination.

Now, before June 30th, is the time to 'show the love'. To make a donation to the annual spring matching donor campaign, call 450-458-5361 or mail a cheque to the Hudson Village Theatre at 28 Wharf Road, Hudson, QC J0P 1H0.
