Copa de Oro and the Segal Centre proudly present BOOM, a Kidoons and WYRD production. Written, directed and performed by Montreal native Rick Miller, BOOM is an explosive stage documentary chronicling the post-war Baby Boom years. The Montreal premiere rocks the Segal stage for three weeks only, March 20 through April 10, 2016.

One man. 25 years. 100 of the most influential figures.

Originally commissioned by the Stratford Festival, BOOM brings the past back to life as Rick Miller, through the magic of his storytelling, gives voice to 100 of the most influential figures of the Baby Boom era. It chronologically documents the historical period stretching from that first 'boom' of the Atomic Bomb in 1945 all the way to Apollo 11 landing the first human beings on the Moon in 1969, allowing audiences to relive iconic moments in music, culture and politics of 25 of the most tumultuous years in modern history.

BOOM is one of the most popular new shows in Canada.

Celebrating its 200th performance at the Segal on March 22, the Kidoons and WYRD production blends cutting-edge multimedia, unforgettable characters and tour-de-force storytelling in a stunningly staged production. Nationally, audiences have raved about being able to experience, through Miller's amazing vocal talents, some of the global events that shaped the Boomer generation: the Cold War, McCarthyism, Beatlemania, Trudeaumania, JFK, MLK, Mao, Vietnam, "The Summer of Love" and much more!

Of BOOM, Artistic & Executive Director, Lisa Rubin says:

"I am thrilled to be working with Allan and Sean Sandler of Copa de Oro Productions to bring the hit show BOOM and Rick Miller's unparalleled talent to Montreal audiences. While our Baby Boomers are reminded of the moments that shaped their lives, younger generations will gain a greater understanding of and feel closer to their loved ones who did. We share in Rick's passion to help connect individual stories to a bigger picture. BOOM is wonderful example of how theatre continues to build communities and bring people together."

Entertainment Weekly has named Rick Miller "one of the 100 most creative people alive today."

Former host of ABC's hit primetime series "Just for Laughs", Rick Miller is a prolific and multi-talented artist. He is a Dora and Gemini award-winning writer/performer/director based in Toronto, Canada. He trained in Montreal as an architect, actor, musician, playwright and visual artist, and has performed in 5 languages on 5 continents. As artistic producer of WYRD Productions, he has created and performed shows such as Art?, Slightly Bent and the worldwide hit MacHomer. His two latest shows, BOOM and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (with Craig Francis), are both co-produced by Kidoons, and both feature educational, environmental and youth-empowerment initiatives.
