TORONTO, ON - From Sept. 16-18, more than 1,700 individuals will gather at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal for a two-day cycling relay as part of the 10th annual 48-HOUR RIDE benefitting Make-A-Wish/Fais-Un-VœuMD Québec.

"Since its launch in 2007, participation in the 48-HOUR RIDE has grown immensely, raising more than $7.5 million to date," says Michelle Sylvestre, CEO, Make-A-Wish/Fais-Un-Vœu Québec. "We are humbled by the outpouring of support we receive each year from our local community and beyond and want to take this opportunity to say thank you for the time, energy and enthusiasm these amazing people have dedicated to our mission."

Teams of six or less must each raise $3,600 collectively and have at least one member of the group ride their bicycle around the track at all times for 48 consecutive hours. The average participant cycles 160 km or eight hours. All monies raised will go towards granting the wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions in Québec.

Denis Coderre, Montreal's mayor and honorary president of the 48-HOUR RIDE; Jacqueline Simoneau and Karine Thomas, Canadian synchronized swimming athletes, and other local celebrities will take part in the fundraising event over the course of the weekend.

"To help commemorate this wonderful 10th anniversary milestone, Make-A-Wish Canada is pleased to present a cheque for $10,000 to the 48-HOUR RIDE," says Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, president & CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. "Congratulations to event sponsors, donors, volunteers, staff and of course, the extraordinary teams who make this event possible, on a decade of remarkable work and achievement."

The 2016 48-HOUR RIDE fundraising goal is $1.6 million.
