Broadway showstoppers highlight Alpine Theatre Project’s new production of The World Goes ‘Round, running August 11 – 23 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. The sleek and stylish music concert celebrates the music of John Kander and Fred Ebb, and features a cast full of seasoned Broadway performers.

“No one has written more showstoppers than John Kander and Fred Ebb,” says director Betsi Morrison, who is also performing in the production. “They’ve created some of Broadway and Hollywood’s wittiest, sexiest and most memorable songs.”

Morrison is referring to the numerous Broadway hits penned by the famous duo, including “All That Jazz,” “Maybe This Time,” “Cabaret,” “How Lucky Can You Get,” and “New York, New York.”  Morrison promises The World Goes ‘Round will be a stylish concert filled with Broadway glitz.

“I drew a lot of inspiration from the concerts of Liza Minelli, who was the foremost singer of Kander and Ebb tunes,” says Morrison. “It’s going to be big, splashy fun.”

The World Goes ‘Round features Betsi Morrison and ATP Executive Director, Luke Walrath, as well as a host of other Broadway veterans, including Aaron Ramey, Elisa Van Duyne, Alexis Sims, and Jodi Kimura. DJ Salisbury is choreographing and Kim Steiner is musical directing.

ATP audiences may remember Aaron Ramey from its 2004 production of Songs for a New World. Ramey has performed in the Broadway productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Curtains, and most recently, Young Frankenstein. Elisa Van Duyne has performed in the Broadway productions of 42nd Street and 110 in the Shade. Luke Walrath met Van Duyne while performing in 42nd Street on Broadway.

“It’s a real joy to perform with her again,” says Walrath about Van Duyne. The two share a lengthy tap dance duet in the performance.

Founded by three Broadway veterans, David Ackroyd, Betsi Morrison and Luke Walrath, the Alpine Theatre Project (ATP) has become one of the most respected professional theatres in the Northwest United States. Its Honorary Board of world-renowned artists includes Olympia Dukakis, Robert Goulet, John Lithgow, Rebecca Luker, Jim Nabors, James Naughton, and Henry Winkler. ATP presents musicals, plays, and concerts throughout the year including regional and world premieres. Using imagination and creativity as its tools, ATP seeks to inspire its audience with transformative entertainment that moves the spirit, excites the imagination, challenges assumptions, and shifts perspectives.

Alpine Theatre Project presents The World Goes ‘Round, a celebration of the music of Kander and Ebb, August 11- 23 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center.
