Wendy Lehr to Lead Acting Workshop at BTAC, 5/25

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) welcomes veteran Twin Cities theatre artist Wendy Lehr to Bloomington Center for the Arts for a special 1-day acting workshop for theater performers called Body and Voice: The Actor's Instrument on Saturday, May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This physical theater workshop is specifically designed to promote physical confidence and develop stage presence. Wendy Lehr will lead participants in exercises and techniques that will induce sweat and laughter as they explore voice and movement for student and professional actors. Exercise clothing, a water bottle, and a bag lunch are recommended.

Wendy Lehr, Instructor is the 2010 recipient of the Ivey Lifetime Achievement Award and has a 50 year history with Twin Cities' theaters. The St. Paul Conservatory of Performing Artists Lehr Theatre is named for Wendy, SPCPA's Artistic Director Emeritus. Perhaps best known for her long affiliation with The Children's Theater Company as actor, director and educator, Wendy has worked in one or more of those capacities with many local companies including Jungle, Guthrie, Park Square, Latte Da, Jeune Lune, Ordway, Illusion, History Theater, Chanhassen, and many more. Last season, she directed Bloomington Civic Theatre's production of Crimes of the Heart, and directs On The Town in BCT's current season.

Body and Voice: The Actor's Instrument will take place Saturday, May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and advanced registration is required. Bring a bag lunch and comfortable clothing. The cost to attend is $75 for BTAC members and students, and $83 for non-members. Partial scholarships are available. Bloomington Theatre and Art Center is located at 1800 W.
