Hennepin Theatre Trust Announces 2012 Holiday Lineup
Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced their November and December 2012 holiday lineup at the State, Orpheum, Pantages and New Century Theatres. Highlights include the rockabilly retro swing guitarist and Minneapolis resident Brian Setzer, multi-platinum electronic music supergroup Mannheim Steamroller, the Emmy Award-winning soulful vocal quartet The Blenders, elegant pianist Lorie Line, the Theater Latté Da/Cantus collaboration All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, the misadventures of The Trailer Park Boys and the hilarious Minnesota spoof of the Charles Dickens classic A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol. The Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Rocks! Extravaganza

A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol

With 17 original songs including “Gunner Fell Into an Ice Hole” and “The Wheel is Turnin’ but the Hamster is Dead,” A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol returns to Minneapolis by popular demand after selling out every show the last five Decembers. On Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota, Sven Yorgensen takes cantankerous bar owner Gunner Johnson on a journey similar to that in Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” only very different.

Chris Isaak, the platinum-selling and Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, feature film actor and former host of his own Showtime series, returns to the State Theatre with holiday classics and more. With more than a dozen albums released over an almost 30 year career and known for his chart-topping single “Wicked Game,” Isaak will be performing from his 2011 CD “Beyond the Sun” and songs from his repertoire. His national PBS special, “Chris Isaak Live! Beyond the Sun,” aired locally on Twin Cities Public Television in June.
