Freshwater Theatre's World Premiere THE MAN IN HER DREAMS Opens Tonight

Freshwater Theatre Company opens its 2014-2015 season with the world premiere of The Man in Her Dreams, a brand new drama by 2013 Ivey Award winning playwright Katherine Glover, honored for her work in our festival Freshwater Goes Back to High School. The play began its life as a one-woman Fringe show titled Dead Wrong, which she toured internationally, and was selected for our first Fringe Consolation Remount in 2012. Katherine has expanded and re-imagined it as the brilliant full length, multi-character production we are excited to present this October.

Megan Shepard is positive that Jabari Woods is the man who assaulted her and left her for dead in a local park. Nikki Woods knows her husband was home with his family the entire time. And Gloria Woods knows only that she wants her innocent son out of prison. A play about memory, justice, and living with a loved one behind bars.

Director Neil Schneider* who, in addition to his extensive directing credits, wowed audiences and critics alike as the title character in our spring production of Mrs. Charles, is helming the production. The cast includes Katie Starks*, Richard "Doc" Woods, Rebecca Gebhart, Julia Hines, Gina Gomez, Kevin McLaughlin, and Elohim Pen?a. Stage managed by Alyssa Thompson, lights by Ariel Leaf*, set by Theresa Akers, props by Corinna Troth, costumes by Seri Johnson and sound by Scot Moore*.

Freshwater has partnered with the Minnesota Innocence Project to raise funds and increase public engagement on the issue of wrongful convictions in the United States. The October 5 performance will feature a post-show talkback with the Minnesota Innocence Project, and all proceeds from that performance will be donated to their cause.

As a companion piece, Freshwater Theatre will present the winner of our Third Annual Fringe Consolation Encore Remount: Don't Let Them See You Cry: The Successes and Failures (but mostly failures) of Daisy Kay McChubbins. Featuring Amana Thomm, Catherine Hansen, Jay Kistler, Siddeeqah Shabazz and Dana Lee Thompson. Directed by Meggie Greivell, created by Amanda Thomm.

A delightfully quirky tale of an exiled clown looking to make it big as a professional actress in the Twin Cities. Will Daisy Kay find love, friendship, and fame?

Man in Her Dreams will play today, October 4 and October 11, 13, 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30pm; October 5, 6, 10, 12 and 15 at 7:30 pm; and October 5, 12, and 19 at 3:00pm.
