Freshwater Theatre Company makes its debut in the new Crane Theater with a brand new play by local theatre artist Dylan Ward: My Life Through History (An Autistic Man's Journey)

My Life Through History features Thomas (Dylan Ward), a man with high-functioning Autism, taking you on an adventure inside his mind. In Thomas' earliest memories, he doesn't just like dinosaurs, he is a Triceratops, encountering a playground T-Rex. As he ages, he ages with the world, starting with his first job as a Roman Gladiator, romping through the middle ages as a troubadour, and ending up in modern day America in a final battle against the childhood villain who has haunted him through time.

Originally produced at the 2015 Minnesota Fringe Festival, this play was submitted for Freshwater Theatre's Fringe Encore Remount project, but we ultimately decided the work would benefit from an expansion and full production.

The show will be directed by Ariel Leaf, who, in addition to her extensive acting credits, last directed If You Don't Weaken for Freshwater Theatre in the spring of 2015 and our remount of An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein in 2016.

The cast includes: Dylan Ward, Alison Anderson, Sheree Froelich, Matthew Kessen, Ben Layne, Kira Pontiff, Joel Raney and Joe Weiner. Stage managed by Megen Ealain, set by Brian Hesser, lights byHeather Jo Raiter, sound by Scot Moore, and costumes by Tracy Swenson.

Running in rep, Freshwater Theatre will present three hit solo shows from Freshwater company members. Scot Moore will remount his one-man show, Men Will Be Boys, an entertaining, yet critical look at how young men/boys are raised into institutional sexism, along with Confessions of a Delinquent Cheerleader, a personal and true storytelling show from local comedienne Mame Pelletier about her misguided antics as a teenager in the late 1980's, and a sampler from two of Ariel Leaf's storytelling shows: Other Fish in the Sea, where she muses about her rough-and-tumble past, her loves, and losses. About the Company
Founded by the husband and wife duo of Ruth Virkus and Ben Layne, Freshwater Theatre was born from a love of Twin Cities theatre and a passion to promote this brave and unique theatre community. We atFreshwater Theatre Company believe that art comes from a place. And we believe, unapologetically, that our place is one of the very best. We exist not only to create our own theater, but to facilitate and promote a vision of the Twin Cities as a major exporter of performing arts, producing and promoting quality work from the Midwest, with an eye not only on producing new work, but giving plays of merit new life beyond one world premiere. Freshwater Theatre ...come on in, the water's fine.
