Milwaukee Ballet Announces Genesis Choreographer Challenge
Milwaukee Ballet invites emerging choreographers from around the world to submit samples of their work to enter our competition. Artistic Director Michael Pink reviews each submission and chooses three finalists. These finalists have three weeks to create a new work which will premiere at The Pabst. They begin by selecting the names of our dancers at random. Once each choreographer has a cast of eight (four ladies and four gentlemen), their work begins.
Witness the athleticism and artistry of our world-class dancers up-close at The Pabst. The dancers are paired in new combinations, performing new choreography, providing an electrifying evening of entertainment. Vote for your favorite piece and help launch the career of a choreographer.
"Michael Pink...is too good at what he does to let any but the best rising choreographers take the Pabst Theater stage." -Wisconsin Gazette
Enrico Morelli, Italy - Winner of the Silver Medal of the President of the Italian Republic and several competitions throughout Italy.
George Williamson, United Kingdom - Commissioned by English National Ballet Company to create a world premiere, and choreographed a piece for Queen Elizabeth's coronation festival at Buckingham Palace.
