First Stage Theater Academy Sets BARD-O-THON for 4/21
Students of First Stage Theater Academy will participate in its second annual BARD-O-THON on Saturday, April 21 at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 West Walnut Street in downtown Milwaukee. Throughout the day, students will perform as many memorized Shakespearean monologues in a row as possible. Performers will include the members of Young Company, First Stage Theater Academy's advanced, pre-professional actor training program for high school students, as well as other Theater Academy students.
The public is welcome to view the students’ monologue performances at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center on Saturday, April 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A showcase of select monologues performed throughout the day will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
First Stage students are collecting sponsorships or pledges based on the number of monologues they will be performing. The money raised will help underwrite the Young Company’s travel and participation in the Utah Shakespearean Festival’s annual Shakespeare Competition, October 4-6, 2012 in Cedar City, Utah, in which Young Company students have participated and won awards in recent years. Money raised will also help fund the Kid2Kid Scholarship Fund, through which First Stage Theater Academy students provide financial support to ensure that other young people can have access to Theater Academy.
