Stage, Film & TV Star Frances Sternhagen
Joins Florida Stage for a Special Benefit Reading

Florida Stage, Florida's award-winning regional theatre dedicated to
new and developing works, welcomes back celebrated actress Frances
Sternhagen, who will star in a special benefit play reading of Joan
Vail Thorne's The Things You Least Expect, Tuesday March 28, 2006 at
the theatre's facility in Manalapan's Plaza del Mar.

Recently called "an authentic theater treasure" by The New York
Times, Frances Sternhagen returns to Florida Stage,
where she starred in Joan Vail Thorne's earlier hit, The Exact
Center of the Universe, reprising the critically acclaimed
performance she originated Off-Broadway. Miss Sternhagen has just
finished a New York Trifecta: Off-Broadway's The Foreigner, and
Broadway Revivals of Steel Magnolias and Seascape, all in 2005. Her
illustrious career on the stage has garnered her seven Tony Award
nominations, winning twice for her performances in Neil Simon's The
Good Doctor and the hit 1995 Broadway revival of The Heiress. Miss
Sternhagen's film and recent TV credits include Billy Wilder's
Fedora, Misery, "Cheers", "Law & Order", and "Sex and the City".

Joining Miss Sternhagen for The Things You Least Expect is prolific
Broadway and Off-Broadway actress Sloane Shelton, Miss Sternhagen's
original Off-Broadway costar from The Exact Center of the Universe.
Miss Shelton's many credits also include the original Broadway
production of Orpheus Descending co-starring Vanessa Redgrave, and
the films What Lies Beneath, One True Thing and Lean on Me.

The Things You Least Expect will have two presentations on March
28th. The 2 p.m. Play Reading will include a Champagne Reception.
The 7 p.m. Play Reading will be preceeded by a Cocktail Reception in
our lobby and followed by Supper with the cast and playwright at the
Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach. All proceeds will benefit Florida Stage's
Mainstage and Educational programs.
