'Reefer Madness', the hit madcap 30's musical based on the anti-marijuana propaganda movie of 1936, will end its run at the Rising Action Theatre on April 11.

The year is 1936. As the play opens, The Lecturer, a severe authority figure, informs the audience of the new drug menace "Marihuana," which threatens the American way of life!  His warnings are reinforced by The Placard Girl who -- throughout the play -- holds up large signs that clearly state the moral of what we've just seen.  From his podium, The Lecturer warns us that action must be taken immediately, before the Good Ol' U.S.A. succumbs to the Demon Weed!!

'Reefer Madness' is the winner of 3 Best Musical Awards: The LA Ovation Award, BackStage West Garland Award, LA Drama Crtics Award for Best New Musical!

'Reefer Madness' is directed by Kevin Coughlin, with music and book by Dan Studney and lyrics and book by Kevin Murphy.

=Rising Action Theatre, Inc. is dedicated to promoting and educating the public in diversity and tolerance for all people through theatre arts. It will present plays with multi-cultural themes and works of social relevance.
