Dmitry Kouzov was awarded First Prize at the International Beethoven Competition in the Czech Republic, and is a two-time laureate of the International Festival-Competition "Virtuosi of the Year" in Russia. He made his New York orchestral début at Alice Tully Hall in 2005 under the baton of Raymond Leppard, and has appeared in command performances before Mikhail Gorbachev and Prince Andrew, Duke of York. He has been a guest artist at major international festivals including the International Bach Festival (Switzerland) and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany). Mr. Kouzov will be accompanied by Shanghai-born pianist Tao Lin, a top prizewinner at the competitions of the National Society of Arts and Letters and the Palm Beach International Invitational, among others. Mr. Lin has been soloist with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, Miami Chamber Orchestra and Knoxville Civic Orchestra, and has been a guest artist with many of the world's most acclaimed chamber ensembles. He is assistant professor of chamber music at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Boca Raton. Schedule program:

THEATRE OF THE ABSURD
Lecturer: Lee Wolf

Lee Wolf discusses and revisits the popular and innovative theatrical form that evolved from the influence of the Post World War II French Existentialist Movement. Dramatists like Albee, Beckett, Ionesco, and Pinter seized the banner of this movement and engaged in an artistic revolt against traditional modes of theatre. In form and language they underscored what they saw as the absurdity of our existence, its vanities and vacuity. They parodied language and human endeavors in often plotless, abstract plays that were, however, ripe with humor. These plays left audiences puzzled, perplexed and challenged. In this program Lee will review the plays of these dramatists and will discuss and analyze both the intriguing works and lives of these dramatists with particular emphasis on Samuel Beckett's masterpiece, Waiting for Godot.
