Kim Fields, her husband, Christopher Morgan, and their two sons were honored by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson's 5,000 Role Models Foundation its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Unity Scholarship Breakfast at Jungle Island in Miami, Florida. Though this was the 22nd annual event hosted by Congresswoman Wilson, it is the first time that she honored a family unit for the positive image that it reflects in the African American community.

Currently starring on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Fields met Congresswoman Wilson during a recent taping of the show, when the cast traveled to Washington, D.C. for the 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March. Parks, who was also honored with the 5,000 Role Models Trailblazers Award, introduced Fields and Congresswoman Wilson - who was immediately struck by the pride they showed as well as their warmth and closeness, and wanted to include them in her upcoming event.

Kim Fields says: "This was such a blessing for my family to experience together. I cherish my husband and my sons and thank God for them. This was an especially proud moment for me, to be able to celebrate what an incredible role model and example of strength, truth, wisdom, faith and love Chris is to our sons. God is at the center of our marriage and our family, and I am happy that we exude this strength and total commitment to one another when we are together. We appreciate Congresswoman Wilson and her entire staff not only for acknowledging us and our boys, but for the work they are doing to elevate the African American community one young man at a time.

Chris Morgan says: "What an honor and blessed surprise to have my family honored by the Congresswoman and this prestigious establishment. I am humbled everyday by the awesome gift God has given me in Kim. To see her honored in such fashion only substantiates all that I know of the incredible woman she is. I will always cherish watching my boys receive their "red ties" and I look forward to instructing them on the legacy they represent. Thank you, Congresswoman Wilson and The 5000 Role Models Organization for such a prestigious honor."

The 5,000 Role Models honor represents an uplifting kick-off to Fields' 40th year in entertainment, which she will celebrate in grand fashion while showing no signs of slowing down: her upcoming announcements include an autobiography, which will be released later this year, and plans to release two inspirational books: Keep Your Soul In Check and Managing Your Wait. Fields also has two television series in development - one in which she will star and the other - which will star her sister Alexis - for which she will be the Executive Producer.

"If I have learned anything from my 40 years in this business, it is to stay focused, stay busy and work to have a positive impact on the lives of others. 2016 is not just my 40th industry anniversary, it is a year of next level. I plan on cultivating every seed of an idea that God gives me, and hope to do so for another 40 years!"

The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project's Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Scholarship Breakfast provides thousands of Role Model boys with scholarship funds to further their education. The mission of the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project is to give minority boys hope, as well as the vision of greatness to emulate in their everyday lives, and has formed a fraternal aura of brotherly love throughout Miami-Dade County - which will soon spread across the nation.
