Kander & Ebb's Classic Musical
Cabaret
at the Boca Raton Theatre Guild
February 25th - March 13th

The Boca Raton Theatre Guild will continue its extremely successful season with John Kander and Fred Ebb's classic musical, Cabaret. The Guild's recent production of Neil Simon's Broadway Bound consistently filled the Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park to capacity throughout its run. Cabaret will run from February 25th through March 13th.

Set in Berlin in 1929, the dark side of Cabaret is always off-stage, while the customers of the Kit Kat Klub play out their existence with willful disregard of their country's future decay into madness. Cabaret is based on John Van Druten's 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from short stories by Christopher Isherwood. The city was captured by Isherwood during this transition period of cafes and quaint avenues, grotesque nightlife and dreamers, and powerful mobs and millionaires in his classic fiction "Berlin Stories" in which his most famous creation, Sally Bowles, appears for the first time.

The production is directed by Keith Garsson, with choreography by Stacey Einhorn. The musical director is Roger Blankenship.

Director Garsson is thrilled to have the opportunity to direct one of musical theatre's most memorable and beloved shows: "Once again lyricist and composers Fred Ebb and John Kander (Chicago, Zorba) prove they can write a musical score suited to any time period, in this case: The Roaring Twenties including the Charleston and Honky-Tonk."

"Cabaret also presents a unique opportunity for casting," Says Garsson. "Two couples separated by years of experience and tied together at the Kit Kat Klub by one of the most iconic figures in musical history: The Emcee. The Guild has some of South Florida's finest musical theater performers, two veterans of national tours and three young local professionals you may soon be seeing everywhere."

Cabaret's cast includes:

Jeffrey Bruce (Herr Schultz) is a charter acting member of Zoetic Stage. He has appeared regionally in many productions, and played in many national tours, including Camelot (Mordred), The Music Man (Tommy), Flower Drum Song (Wang San) and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Jeffrey was the permanent guest host (21 years) on WXYZ's Kelly & Company (Detroit).

Gail Byer (Frau Schneider) has appeared in Broadway musicals all over the world. Past roles include
Golde (Fiddler on the Roof), Reverend Mother (Nunsense), and Anna (King & I). She has appeared on television in"The Glades," "Burn Notice," and in an infomercial for Didi Seven.

Joe Harter (Emcee) is making his BRTG debut with Cabaret. His credits from 2010 include Pan in Bat Boy (Slow Burn Theatre Company), Matthew Loyd in Bare: A Pop Opera (Broward Center for the Performing Arts), and Enoch Clay in Johnna Adams's Angel Eaters (Infinite Abyss Productions, Empire Stage).

Mary Kate McMullen (Sally Bowles) a current FAU student, has been performing on their stage for the past three years. She received raves for "...providing beautiful soothing vocals as Miss Molloy..." at the Pope John Paul II High School's 'Hello Dolly!' and further praise for her work as Catherine in their production of 'Pippin.' Ms. McMullen also performed at the 2008 Stage Deportment Showcase.

Peter Librach's (Ernst Ludwig) credits include the National Tour of Godspell, Oliver!, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, Funny Girl, The Sunshine Boys, Guys and Dolls, and many more. For the last three years he has worked as Producing Director for The New Vista Theatre Company.

Nate Lauar (Clifford Bradshaw) was last seen as Billy Bigelow in BRTG'S production of Carousel. He is very excited to be returning this year for their production of Cabaret. Some recent roles are: David (Company), Tony (West Side Story), and Cinderella's Prince/Wolf (Into The Woods).
