FORT LAUDERDALE ---Heavy on a duo of current smash Broadway Tony® Award-winners; a beloved tyke who sings optimistically about 'Tomorrow;' an enduring romantic classic recalling the days of glorious chivalry; the sounds and fury of a rock'n' roll legend that changed the sound of music forever; and the return of an amazing animated feature turned into a legendary international epic, are all on the truly eclectic something-for-everyone theatrical menu announced by Broadway Across America-Ft. Lauderdale as highlights of the all-musical 2006-07 subscription season scheduled to be launched on October 3, with the season premiere of Thomas Meehan/Charles Strouse/Martin Charnin's ANNIE, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

Close on "Annie's" heels as the season's Happy Thanksgiving Day show will be ALL SHOOK UP, the dynamic ode to the legend of Elvis Presley who changed the sound of music forever, November 22-December 3; the raucously inspired 2005 Tony® Award-winner Monty Python's SPAMALOT that is currently breaking records at Broadway's Shubert Theater, January 9-21; THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, another Tony® Award winning audience pleaser which continues to delight sell-out crowds at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre, March 13- 25; and perfect for the Spring holiday season, the return of Disney's THE LION KING which will have an extended 6-week run from April 19-June 3; and as the glorious wrap-up from June 12-24, film and stage star Michael York starring in Lerner and Lowe's ever-beautiful CAMELOT.

ANNIE

October 3 – 15, 2006

Leapin' lizards! ANNIE is coming to Fort Lauderdale. The timeless tale of Little Orphan Annie is back, giving a whole new generation the chance to experience this classic musical about never giving up hope. Boasting one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including "It's the Hard-Knock Life," "Easy Street," "N.Y.C." and the ever-optimistic "Tomorrow," ANNIE is a delightful theatrical experience for the entire family. Don't miss this all-new production that Variety calls "a winner!"

 

ALL SHOOK UP

November 22 – December 3, 2006

Romance. Rebellion. & ROCK 'N' ROLL! Combining all-time favorite Elvis Presley songs with a surefire rock'n'roll story, ALL SHOOK UP tells the romantic tale of how a young girl's dream comes true when a guitar-playin' roustabout rides into a square state and turns the town upside down with his hip-swivelin', lip-curlin'and sexy song singin'. The clever book is by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change), with buoyant and energetic direction by Tony Award-nominee Christopher Ashley (The Rocky Horror Show), and features such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel", "Burning Love", "Jailhouse Rock", "Blue Suede Shoes," "It's Now or Never," and "Don't Be Cruel." This well tuned hot-rod musical took Broadway by storm and guarantees to have your entire family jumpin' out of their blue suede shoes!

 

Monty Python's SPAMALOT

January 9 – 21, 2007

Winner of the 2005 Tony® Award for Best Musical, Monty Python's SPAMALOT is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." Directed by Tony® Award-winner Mike Nichols, with book and lyrics by Monty Python's Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, SPAMALOT tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE

March 13 – 25, 2007

Michael York stars in the Lerner and Loewe classic, CAMELOT

June 12 – 24, 2007

British stage and film legend, Michael York stars in the timeless masterpiece, CAMELOT. This Lerner and Loewe classic will present a new vision with this magnificent production. The amazing and memorable score includes – the romantic and haunting "If Ever I Would Leave You," the joyous "C'est Moi " and the majestic "Camelot." Re-discover the grandeur of one of history's greatest love stories.

 

Season tickets for the Broadway Across America - Fort Lauderdale 2006-2007 season are currently available and range from $121.00 - $477.00. Renewal invoices will be mailed out February 8. As always, Miami Beach and Palm Beach season ticket holders will also have the first opportunity to renew their same great seats soon.
