Gulfshore Playhouse to Perform Arthur Miller Classic "A View from the Bridge"

Gulfshore Playhouse is continuing their fifth mainstage season with the classic A View From the Bridge by Arthur Miller. This production will run March 4 through 20, with a preview March 3.

Arthur Miller's fiercely compelling drama about love, belonging and betrayal, A View from the Bridge centers around Eddie Carbone, an Italian-American longshoreman who lives in Brooklyn with his wife Beatrice and his orphaned 17-year-old niece Catherine. Beatrice's two cousins enter the country illegally seeking a better life in America, and when Catherine falls in love with one of them, Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family and his world.

The cast of A View From the Bridge is led by Larry Bull as Eddie Carbone. Gulfshore Playhouse audiences may remember Larry as Torvald in last year's A Doll's House. Larry has also appeared on Broadway in The Coast of Utopia. Gayton Scott will be playing Beatrice. Gayton starred on Broadway with Bernadette Peters in Gypsy, The Women with Cynthia Nixon and Present Laughter with Frank Langella. Kira McCarthy will be playing Catherine. Kira is a recent graduate of NYU/Tisch School of the Arts and a member of Brave New World Repertory Theater in Brooklyn, where she was last seen playing Abigail in The Crucible. Joseph R. Sicari will be playing Alfieri. Michael Serratore will appear as Louis. Nick Duckart and Christian Pedersen are making their Gulfshore Playhouse debuts as Marco and Rodolpho. Local actor Valerian Kuffel will play the Immigration Officer.

Producing Artistic Director Kristen Coury will direct. Robert F. Wolin will create the Set Design, Jennifer Murray will lend her talent as both Costume Designer and Props Mistress, and Technical Director Curtis Lee Jones will serve as Lighting Designer.

"I am eager to tackle such a wonderful, profound and thought-provoking drama as only Arthur Miller can write. He has the ability to write about a very specific family or societal situation and make it universal, something to which we can all relate," notes Producing Artistic Director Kristen Coury.

Arthur Miller is the recipient of the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement. Last year's Broadway revival won Scarlett Johansson a Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress. Some of Miller's other classic plays include All My Sons, Death of a Salesman and The Crucible.
