Anna Maria Alberghetti stars in Gulfshore Playhouse's Spring Gala

Gulfshore Playhouse announces a legend of stage and screen coming to Southwest Florida to support Gulfshore Playhouse. Tony-award winner Anna Maria Alberghetti will perform an intimate concert with piano, bass and drums in her concert "An Evening with Anna Maria Alberghetti." The concert will take place as part of Gulfshore Playhouse's "Concert Gala 2006" at Quail West Country Club. Full architectural renderings of the Regional Theatre, which will include a 550-seat Proscenium Mainstage, a 150-seat Studio blackbox theatre with flexible seating, and a Learning Institute featuring classes of all ages, will be unveiled at this event.

After a film hiatus of 34 years, Anna Maria starred in "Friends and Family" an independent mob comedy directed by Gulfshore Playhouse Producing Artistic Director, Kristen Coury. That same year, Anna Maria Alberghetti filmed "The Whole Shebang" with Stanley Tucci, Bridget Fonda, Giancarlo Gianinni, and Talia Shire.  Her other feature films include co-starring roles in "Here Comes The Groom" with Bing Crosby, "Cinderfella" with Jerry Lewis, "10,000 Bedrooms" with Dean Martin, "The Stars Are Shining" with Rosemary Clooney, "The Last Command" with Sterling Hayden,  and "The Medium" with the Metropolitan Opera's great Lauritz Melchoir.

In addition to her Tony winning performance in "Carnival," Anna Maria has also given illustrious performances in "West Side Story," "The Sound of Music," "Cabaret," "Camelot," "Fanny," "Most Happy Fella," "The Boyfriend," "The Student Prince," "Side By Sondheim," and recently has toured in the Kopit-Yeston production of "Phantom." Her recording career has included performances for Capitol Records, Columbia Records, Mercury Records and MGM Records.

Kristen Coury, Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse, states, "I am delighted to have to the opportunity to work with Anna Maria again. She is a consummate professional, extraordinarily talented and well-loved by people of all ages. This evening is sure to be a treat."

Gala Chair, Joyce Gerber, who is well-known in the Naples community through her work with the Heart Ball, states says, "I'm very excited to have the opportunity to help spearhead the fundraising efforts for Gulfshore Playhouse. A professional equity theater of this magnitude will be a major benefit to the community of Southwest Florida, both culturally and economically."

Anna Maria's wondrous sound has been heralded in America since her Carnegie Hall Debut at the age of 13.  Her appearances on concert stages in a dazzling one-woman show cause her to be a sought after artist in both cabaret and with the world's finest symphony orchestras. Her talents as an actress have captured the imaginations and interest of audiences everywhere and earned her Broadway's coveted Tony Award for Best Actress In a Musical for the now classic "Carnival."
