For four evenings in September, the world of teen angst will be alive and well upstairs at the Roxy Regional Theatre in theotherspace production of STUPID KIDS.
In rapid, highly stylized scenes featuring guitar accompaniment by Patrick Long, John C. Russell's satirical comedy about teen peer pressure follows four high school students as they make their way from first through eighth period and beyond, struggling with the fears, frustrations and longings unique to youth. Jim (Tristan Sartor) is the new guy in town, sexy, a rebel. Judy (Allison Ferebee) is the popular cheerleader. Neechee (Truman Jepson) and Kimberly (Sidney McCarty) are the resident outcasts, both of whom are secretly gay. Will Jim become popular? Will Judy give her virginity to Jim? Will Neechee and Kimberly confess they're gay? Directed by Leslie Greene, STUPID KIDS turns these familiar stereotypes into deeply moving and provocative archetypes of adolescence which are both true to their source and astonishingly revelatory of the hearts and minds of contemporary youth. Due to subject matter, STUPID KIDS is recommended for mature audiences.Videos
