Joe Gulla's "Sleeping With The Fish" will have its World Premiere at the Emerald Theatre Company's "Out of the Closet" Festival in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday, September 9th.

Written by Gulla and directed by Daniel Martine, "Sleeping With The Fish" stars Daniel Martine and Mark Pergolizzi.

"Sleeping With The Fish" tells the story of goodfellas, Don and Ron. After dumping their friend/mafia colleague, Ernesto, off the side of the Staten Island Ferry, Don and Ron take time to evaluate the status of their "relationship."

Gulla says of his play, "It's like Brokeback Mountain... if there were lots of lasagna!"

Joe Gulla won the 2016 Downtown Urban Arts Festival "Audience Award" for the performance of his play "The Bronx Queen" at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. This past August, he returned to Joe's Pub for a sold-out encore performance.

What's next for Joe? On October 21, the Dramatist Guild will present a staged reading of his play, "Garbo", as part of their Friday Night Footlights series. Directed by Brian Rardin, "Garbo" is a comedy/drama that recounts the playwright's years living in the Trastevere section of Rome, Italy.
