Mid-South movie goers will put on their platform heels and "Time Warp" their way to the Orpheum Theatre tonight, July 19 as Chris Davis hosts the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW edition of "Beyond the Screen with Indie Memphis" at 7:30 PM. The Orpheum's annual screening of the film will follow at 8:00 PM.

Chris Davis is well known in the greater Memphis area as a staff writer for The Memphis Flyer. In addition to his weekly arts, entertainment, and news columns, Davis is active in the local performing arts scene as an accomplished director. His directorial credits include the stage version of ROCKY HORROR, and for this special edition of "Beyond the Screen," Davis will give audiences a whole new perspective on this timeless cult classic.

"Why do we keep coming back to ROCKY HORROR? Why do we keep coming back to any great fairy tale?" Davis asks. "ROCKY is the original glitter rock nightmare... It's The Brothers Grimm teaming up with Mary Shelly and Ed Wood for a sex-drenchEd Morality play about coming of age in an age of excess. Those who believe the experience was incomplete before audiences started talking back to the screen - a joy in and of itself - have overlooked a kiss while calling out for 'LIPS!' If you've never enjoyed ROCKY with a closed mouth and open mind, it's time."

Davis will also help judge the Orpheum's much-anticipated ROCKY HORROR Costume Contest. The contest, led by seven-time ROCKY HORROR Master of Ceremonies Drew Pairmore, takes place before the screening, and all attendees are invited to participate. A 34-year-old West Tennessee native and healthcare professional, Drew Pairmore has a longtime love of theatre and performance. Pairmore is also a skilled baritone vocalist, pianist, and organist, and he will once again display his talents in full costume on the Orpheum's Mighty Wurlitzer.

ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW celebrates the weird and wonderful as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They both look for contact only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Complete with a large group of Transylvanians dancing to the 'Time Warp,' ROCKY HORROR is the cult classic that offers audiences an unforgettable movie-going experience.
