Merrill Auditorium will come alive with thunderous Taiko drumming, razor-sharp choreography, and lavish costuming on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 7pm when Portland Ovations brings TAO: Seventeen Samurai. A multifaceted spectacular that appeals to all ages.

Hailed as "extraordinarily talented" with "incomparable muscular zeal' by the Chicago Tribune, the highly trained athlete-artists of TAO have performed for more than 6.5 million people worldwide, including buzzworthy appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Vancouver Olympics, and a sold out North American tour. Melodies of various genres and traditional instruments result in an enchanting scene that only TAO can present, using world-class techniques to display the highest levels of virtuosity. TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the timeless, traditional art of Taiko drumming entertains international audiences again and again.

"Portland Ovations has a lengthy history of presenting Taiko groups, to the great delight of our patrons. We are so thrilled to welcome TAO - and their fresh, modern aesthetic - to our series," enthused Aimée Petrin, Portland Ovations' Executive Director.

Tickets for TAO: Seventeen Samurai range from $38 to $54 for the general public, while Ovations' Members receive a 10% discount. WEX and Bangor Daily News are generously providing sponsorship of this performance.
