Hackmatack Playhouse to Present THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 7/10-27

One of Broadway's most popular shows returns to the Hackmatack stage! The story of a high-spirited postulant who becomes a governess for a widow with seven children and their narrow escape from the Nazis is thrilling, inspirational and features many beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein songs including "Climb Every Mountain", "My Favorite Things", and "The Sound of Music".

The original Broadway production, starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel, opened on November 16, 1959; the show has enjoyed numerous productions and revivals since then. It was adapted as a 1965 film musical starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, which won five Academy Awards. "The Sound of Music" was the final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

"The Sound of Music," runs July 10 through July 27 and will be interpreted for the deaf on Saturday, July 13 at 8:00 PM. Show times are 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 10, Thursday, July 11, Friday, July 12, Saturday, July 13, Wednesday, July 17, Thursday, July 18, Friday, July 19, Saturday, July 20,Wednesday, July 24, Thursday, July 25, Friday, July 26, Saturday, July 27. Matinees at 2:00 will be held Thursdays, July 11, 18 and 25.

"Les Miserables," will run next July 31 through August 17, and "Driving Miss Daisy" is August 21 through August 30

Hackmatack Playhouse continues a tradition of affordable ticket prices with student, senior, and group discounts. Individual ticket prices are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, Thursday senior special of $20, and $10 for students under age 20.
