Hackmatack Playhouse Children's Theatre Camp presents an original show called THE WORLD'S A STAGE, using American music from the Tin Pan Alley era (Gershwin, Foster, Joplin, Berlin), on August 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th at 10AM. The World's a Stage tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults. Hackmatack Playhouse is on Route 9 in Berwick, Maine. For more information and ticket reservations, call 207-698-1807 or visit www.Hackmatack.org.

Songs include "Give my Regards to Broadway," "Ain't We Got Fun," "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," and "Silvery Moon." In The World's a Stage, a young girl who is drawn to all things Broadway takes her two neighbors on an adventure to follow her father on a business trip to New York City. On the way, they meet a group of vagrant children, and are in turn followed by two do-good girl scouts who try to bring them home.

The campers have been inserting their own personalities and ideas into the show, and helped paint and build their sets and design and create their own costumes. Campers are residents of Lebanon, Berwick, South Berwick, North Berwick, and Eliot, Maine and Somersworth, Rochester, Rollinsford and Milton, New Hampshire.

Director of the camp program, Katie Rodger, is in her 7th summer working with the Hackmatack Children's Theater Camp, and second year as director. She admits, "Watching the children find their talents, which they had no idea they had, keeps me coming back year after year." She said that Hackmatack campers make life-long friends, enjoy the beautiful grounds, and grow as performers and as children while they strengthen their confidence and self-esteem. Katie is simultaneously acting in Hackmatack's current regular season production of Carousel (playing the part of Julie Jordon).

In addition to the children's production of The World's a Stage, The 2010 Hackmatack Playhouse regular season schedule includes Carousel running now through August 14 with shows Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm with a Thursday matinee at 2:00 pm. August 18 through the 28th is the delightful musical comedy, Hello, Dolly. And "Cox and Box" and "Bon Appétit" are featured during Hackmatack's annual Labor Day weekend light operetta.
