Good Theater to Present THE OUTGOING TIDE, 3/5-30

Good Theater continues its 12th season with the New England premiere of THE OUTGOING TIDE by Bruce Graham running March 5-30, at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. Tickets and information are available at 207-885-5883 or by going to the Good Theater website www.goodtheater.com.

Performances for THE OUTGOING TIDE are Wednesdays at 7:00* ($20), Thursdays at 7:00 ($20), Fridays at 7:30 ($25), Saturday matinees at 3:00* ($25), Saturday evenings at 7:30 ($28) and Sunday matinees at 2:00 ($28). *Wednesdays 3/5 & 3/12 only, Saturday matinees 3/22 & 3/29 only.

THE OUTGOING TIDE stars Broadway veterans Will Rhys and Florence Lacey. Rhys was featured on Broadway in the award winning plays The Changing Room and Jumpers among others. Ms. Lacey holds the world's record for the most performances of Eva Peron in Evita having played the role on Broadway, the national tour and the world tour. She has also been seen in The Grand Tour for which she won a Theatre World Award as well as Hello Dolly, Follies, Les Miserables and An Evening With Jerry Herman. JP Guimont, another Equity actor, who makes his Good Theater debut with this role, completes the cast.

Brian P. Allen, Good Theater's Artistic Director, directs the production. Stephen Underwood is the set designer and technical director, Justin Cote is the costume designer, Iain Odlin is the lighting designer, Michael Lynch is the production stage manager and Craig Robinson is the assistant technical director.

THE OUTGOING TIDE was commissioned by the Northlight Theatre, Chicago, where it was performed in 2011 starring John Mahoney (Fraser). The show was a major hit and the run was extended. Subsequently the show has been seen off-Broadway in 2012 in a production starring Peter Strauss and Michael Learned.

THE OUTGOING TIDE takes place in a cottage on Chesapeake Bay where Gunner (Rhys) has hatched an unorthodox plan to secure his family's future but meets with resistance from his wife, Peg (Lacey), and his son, Jack (Guimont), who have plans of their own. As the winter approaches, the three must quickly find common ground and come to an understanding - before the tide goes out.

Good Theater's production of THE OUTGOING TIDE will move intact to the South Carolina Rep in Hilton Head, SC following the Portland run. It will play for an additional two weeks April 28-May 11.

Still to come at Good Theater is the world premiere, Underwaterguy, written and performed by Stephen Underwood. Underwaterguy plays April 2-13. Previously this season, Good Theater presented the Maine premiere of Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris, the New England premiere of A.R. Gurney's The Grand Manner and the Portland premiere of Becky's New Car by Steven Dietz.
