Arundel Playhouse presents NUNSENSE A-MEN. The Little Sisters of Hoboken are faced with a dilemma! Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally killed fifty-two sisters with tainted vichyssoise, and while forty-eight nuns have been buried, The Little Hobos still have four sisters in the freezer, and no money for their burials. They've planned a benefit that will display the divine talents of Mother Superior, a former circus performer, Sister Mary Hubert, second in command, Sister Robert Ann, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn, Sister Mary Leo, a novice dancing her way to Holy Grace, and Sister Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. It's a whole new twist of Nunsense nonsense when male actors "get in the habit". Thus the A- MEN!

Created by Dan Goggin, the Nunsense antics began as a line of greeting cards whose popularity prompted Goggin to write a full-length musical, the original Nunsense. Winning four Outer Critic Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical, the successful show became the second longest- running Off-Broadway show and has been produced all over the world. Nunsense A-Men includes all the comedy of the original show, with songs such as "Nunsense Is Habit Forming" and "Holier Than Thou."

Goggin writes, "I based the nuns in Nunsense on the personalities of the nuns who taught me. I didn't have those nuns they talk about, with the rulers, coming around and whacking you. The nuns I had were hysterical, really fun." And that's exactly what the Arundel Barn Playhouse production of Nunsense A-Men brings to the stage.

Directing this summer's production of Nunsense A-Men is Ed Reichert. Reichert is a Musical Theatre Vocal Coach at the University of Southern Maine and is well-known for his work in New York and New England. He has directed Nunsense six times and was the first to suggest the production to the Arundel Barn Playhouse. He is sincerely passionate about Nunsense - so much that he actually dressed up as the Reverend Mother for his students for Halloween!

Arundel Barn Playhouse is also pleased to welcome David Dennison as Reverend Mother, Danny Dwaine Wells II as Sister Hubert, Billy Goldstein as Sister Robert Anne, Curtis Reynolds as Sister Amnesia, and Eric Leiggi as Sister Leo.

Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 pm and Wednesday matinees at 2 pm. Additional performances Sunday evening June 21 at 8 pm and Friday matinee June 26 at 2 pm.
