Four of Asia's most acclaimed musicians are coming together for a fusion of cultures and art forms to create S.A.R.A., featuring tabla player Salar Nader, who thrilled local audiences in Actors Theatre of Louisville's production of The Kite Runner, and Homayoun Sakhi, master of the rubâb (the national lute of Afghanistan). Drawing on centuries' old heritages from throughout Central and South Asia, S.A.R.A. explores musical styles both ancient and completely modern.

· Afghanistan is a melting pot whose cultural life bears the evidence of centuries of multicultural exchange. S.A.R.A.'s repertoire encompasses religious, folk, classical and contemporary music, from romantic ghazals to the most elaborate ragas. The vocal element lends itself to the incorporation of Farsi poetry - a specialty of vocalist Homayun Khan.
