The Visceral Company will present a return engagement of its highly acclaimed, sold out production of LOVECRAFT: NIGHTMARE SUITE, featuring six strange tales of monsters, mayhem, and cosmic horrors brought to life through a combination of storytelling, puppetry, and shadow play. All text is taken directly from the short fiction, essays, and poetry of the godfather of modern horror, H.P. Lovecraft.

Conceived and directed by Dan Spurgeon (Visceral's Artistic Director and 2013 LA Weekly Theater Award winner), LOVECRAFT: NIGHTMARE SUITE received uniformly high praise from LA theater critics, including a "Pick of the Week" from LA Weekly, for its deft and creative direction, powerful acting performances, and masterful stagecraft. The final two weekends of performances in the original run were completely sold out with standing room only available.

LOVECRAFT: NIGHTMARE SUITE will play for a limited run of five weeks only, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm and Sunday matinees at 3 pm, from January 31 through March 2, 2014, at the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave., Hollywood, CA.

Tickets are $23 for all performances and are available at www.thevisceralcompany.com. Parental guidance is recommended for young children. Due to the nature of the performance, late seating is at the discretion of management and cannot be guaranteed.

LOVECRAFT: NIGHTMARE SUITE features performances of six classic Lovecraft stories:
-- The Statement of Randolph Carter. An archaeologist unearths an unspeakable horror while exploring a crypt.
-- The Cats of Ulthar. In an ancient land, a young boy's prayers are answered after his beloved kitten goes missing. -- The Outsider. A lonely individual decides to break free of a dark forest in search of human contact.
-- The Picture in the House. A young man seeking shelter from a storm discovers a book with disturbing engravings.
-- Cool Air. A rooming house boarder meets a reclusive doctor obsessed with cheating death.
-- Nyarlathotep. One of the Outer Gods manifests and unleashes horrific visions on humanity.
Excerpts of the author's poetry and prose are used to introduce and bridge the stories.

The ensemble cast features Devereau Chumrau, Andrew Fromer, Daniel Jimenez*, Steve Peterson*, Anna Safar, Eric Sand*, Angela Sauer*, and Mark Souza. Lighting design is by Dave Sousa (2012 LA Weekly Theater Award nominee), set and puppet design by John Burton, sound design and original music by Garth Herberg, and costume design by Pam Noles.

The Visceral Company, called "LA's premiere horror theatre troupe" by Fangoria magazine and winner of "Best 2013 LA theater season" accolades from review aggregation site Bitter Lemons, specializes in works that explore the dark, strange, and macabre - killer shows from darker places. We hope to encourage further onstage exploration of the horror, thriller, and science fiction genres, which have been underrepresented in theatre, and to build an appreciation of theatre in the younger audiences that are traditionally drawn to them.

* Member, Actor's Equity Association. This production is presented under the AEA LA 99-Seat Theatre Plan.
