The Desert Rose Playhouse, the Valley's live stage company serving the LGBT community, will present THE STOPS, a new musical by Eric Lane Barnes, opening Friday, June 13, 2014 for a six-week run. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.

In this very unique, original, and funny show, three members of the North American Lady Organists Guild (NALOG) spread their Gospel as "The Stops," an Andrews Sisters-esque trio of different faiths united in their love of song. "Ginny", "Euglena", and "Rose" perform a benefit concert for their mentor Dale Meadows, a church music director and songwriter recently ousted from his tabernacle because of his sexuality (he's gay!) Original songs include The Fundamental, It's Raining Amen, A Bossa Nova for Jehovah, Tulips on Your Organ and Awkward Christian Soldiers.

THE STOPS takes Christian fundamentalism and turns it on its head, all the while serving up heaping portions of wicked fun and honest-to-God joy!

The cast includes Desert Rose Playhouse favorites Terry Huber as "Rose", Raul Valenzuela as "Ginny", and Mark Ziemann as "Euglena". DRP's Artistic Director Jim Strait is staging the show and Steven Smith is Musical Director.

The Desert Rose Playhouse is a project of Desert Rose Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation. THE STOPS continues Desert Rose Productions' mission to produce and present literate, relevant and entertaining plays and musicals to LGBT and Gay-Friendly theatregoers in the Coachella Valley.

Tickets are $30 for evening performances; $28 for matinees and go on sale May 16, 2014. To order go online at www.desertroseplayhouse.org or call 760-202-3000.
