"So much has been written on Le Corbusier; we know he was a multifaceted man - an architect, painter sculptor, poet, and author," says Pierre Leloup, Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz Director. "Yet when Jean Winiger sent me the video of the play, I was immediately intrigued by the production as a reflection of the French-Swiss architect's complex personality; he managed to be both a romantic humanist as well as a calculating realist simultaneously."

Additional La Francophonie events at TRK in March include Paris-based sextet Les Yeux Noirs In Concert, bringing an infectious Gypsy-Klezmer-Yiddish meld of music to Los Angeles on Saturday, March 7, 2015. TRK's monthlong local 2015 Celebration of La Francophonie also includes the sixth annual installment of A Week of French Language Cinema in Los Angeles, with FREE nightly screenings of critically acclaimed Francophonic films, from Monday, March 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2015. Furthermore, the American artist Carol Bishop will exhibit Le Corbusier and the Modernist Legacy, a series of photo-paintings that highlight Le Corbusier's iconic structures. The works will be on view from Monday, March 16 to Monday, March 23, 2015 in the courtyard in front of the theater prior to TRK's La Francophonie events.

Une Nuit Radieuse -
Une Nuit Radieuse (A Radiant Night), by Jean Winiger, is a play about the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, which takes place in India. Le Corbusier, played by the author (Winiger), was working on his last big project in Chandigarh, when a young architect comes to him. This inspiring meeting starts a conversation about the life of this philosopher, artist, and lecturer who left his print on modern architecture.

In addition to Winiger as Le Corbusier, the cast includes Los Angeles dancer Isaac Huerta and Philippe Thonner, who plays the young architect. Winiger has incorporated text, sketches, and materials left behind by Le Corbusier, a selection of which are projected on two onstage screens, to create this one of a kind play.

Le Corbusier -
Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris (1887-1965), who was better known as Le Corbusier, was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, writer, and one of the pioneers of modern architecture, who belonged to the first generation of the so-called International School of Architecture. He was born in Switzerland and became a French citizen in 1930. Widely considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, his career spanned five decades, with his buildings constructed throughout Europe, India, and America. Dedicated to providing better living conditions for the residents of crowded cities, Le Corbusier was credited with changing the face of urban architecture, bringing it into the technological age. He was a founding member of the Congrès international d'architecture modern and combined a passion for classical Greek architecture with an attraction to modern machinery, for a legacy that demonstrates a utopian sense of purpose to meet the needs of a democratic society dominated by technology.
