Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation Sutton Foster will appear for two performances only at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre, Thursday and Friday, April 29 and 30, at 8 p.m.

"An Evening with Sutton Foster," an intimate concert performance, is a special event of the DouglasPlus series at the theatre and will feature many of the hit songs Sutton created in her memorable Broadway career as well as her favorite tunes from the classic, pop and Broadway songbooks and selections from her new CD "Wish." Michael Rafter is the Music Director.

Los Angeles audiences know Sutton from "The Drowsy Chaperone" for which she created the role of Janet Van De Graaff in the United States premiere at the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre in November 2005, receiving a Los Angeles Ovation Award before moving to Broadway with the show and receiving 2006 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations. She also appeared Eponine in the touring production of "Les Misérables" at the Ahmanson in December 1999.

Perhaps best known for her performance as Millie Dillmount in "Thoroughly Modern Millie," for which she received 2002 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Astaire Awards, Sutton recently starred on Broadway as Princess Fiona in "Shrek: The Musical" and was honored with Tony and Drama Desk nominations, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Prior to that, Sutton played Inga in the Mel Brooks musical, "Young Frankenstein," and Jo March in "Little Women: The Musical" (2005 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations).

Last year, in a glowing review of Sutton Foster in concert, Stephen Holden of The New York Times said, "A barefoot country girl cradling a puppy and gazing blissfully into the blue sky, a sleeping princess in a moonlit bower who dreams of being kissed awake by Prince Charming: the corniest storybook mythology attaches itself to Sutton Foster as magically as dew appears on a spring flower and revives for a moment your silliest childhood fantasies of eternal innocence and happily ever after."

Tickets for "An Evening with Sutton Foster" are currently on sale only to CTG donors and Douglas season ticket holders. Beginning April 14 and subject to availability, tickets will go on sale to the general public.
