The Nederlander Organization and Pantages Theatre, Hollywood have announced that the 2nd Annual Jerry Herman AWARDS, a celebration in the achievement and excellence in high school musical theatre in Los Angeles will be hosted at the Pantages Theatre tonight, May 19, 2013 at 7pm. Red Carpet celebrity arrivals will begin at 6pm on Sunday evening. Single tickets for this awards celebration are now on sale to the general public.

Presenters from the worlds of Broadway, film & television are confirmed to present awards to aspiring high school musical theatre performers at the eventthis Sunday evening. Presenters include (in ABC order) Obba Babatunde, Shoshana Bean, Kevin Chamberlin, Sam Harris, Kenny Ortega, Cathy Rigby, Tracie Thoms & Steven Weber. Please note, presenters will be available for interview on the red carpet beginning at 6pm this Sunday evening.

Tickets for THE Jerry Herman AWARDS may be purchased online at www.JerryHermanAwards.com, www.HollywoodPantages.com, www.Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-982-2787. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Pantages Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. The Pantages Theatre is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, just east of Vine Street, and the box office opens daily at 10am. Box office schedule may vary during holidays.

THE Jerry Herman AWARDS is a local celebration dedicated to recognizing, encouraging, and rewarding achievements and excellence in high school musical theatre. It is the local award ceremony for THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS, also known as The Jimmy's, which take place annually at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway in New York City. Every year two students are sent to New York to represent Los Angeles at The Jimmy's to participate in a week long workshop and compete for the coveted Jimmy Award, named after the owner of the Pantages Theatre: James M. Nederlander.

Instituted by The Nederlander Organization, THE Jerry Herman AWARDS is an initiative with the goal to stimulate new partnerships between theatres and the schools in Los Angeles while engaging entire families in the activities of their children and contributing to the development of future audiences for live performing arts. THE Jerry Herman AWARDS will focus much needed attention on the meaningful work being done by today's dedicated teachers and celebrate kids with wide ranging talents on and off the stage.

Musical Theatre productions from High Schools in Los Angeles County have successfully registered for THE Jerry Herman AWARDS. Participating schools currently include Academy of Music at Hamilton High School, Notre Dame Academy, Hollywood High School, University High, Martin Luther King High, John Burroughs High, Charter Oak High, Ramon Cortines, Claremont High, Chaminade High, Santa Susanna High, Wilson High, Royal High, Arcadia High, Calabasas High, Miliken High, Valley Academy High, St, Francis High, Winward High, Canyon High, Palisades High, Mirman High, Oak Park High & Taft High. Much like Broadway's Tony Awards, each school's production will be judged and ranked on a series of pre-determined criteria.

THE Jerry Herman AWARDS will feature individual performance award categories including Featured Performer, Leading and Supporting Actor and Actress and Standout Performance. Overall production categories will include awards for best in scenic design, lighting design, costume design, orchestra,ensemble/chorus, crew & technical execution, choreography/musical staging, musical direction and the coveted Best Musical award.

Hosts and celebrity awards presenters for THE Jerry Herman AWARDS will be announced at a later date.

THE Jerry Herman AWARDS are scheduled for Sunday May 19th at 7pm. Red carpet celebrity arrivals will take place from 6-7pm. A confirmed list of celebrity attendees to be confirmed at a later date.

THE Jerry Herman AWARDS has a running time of 2 Hours and 30 Minutes and is recommended for all ages. (Please note that in consideration of audiences, no one under 2½ years of age will be admitted to the theatre.) General seating for THE Jerry Herman AWARDS is just $20.
