Rebecca Spencer Debuts New Concert at The Wallis Sorting Room

Broadway performer and BackStage Bistro Award-winning recording artist Rebecca Spencer will celebrate her return to the Los Angeles concert scene when she headlines at The Sorting Room at The Wallis, LA's newest nightclub, at 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 13.

Spencer is recognized both nationally and internationally in the cabaret and concert worlds for her signature contemporary art song, lyric driven arrangements that seamlessly fuse classical and contemporary composers. She joins an eclectic group of artists that will inaugurate the new Sorting Room series at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, in Beverly Hills, and will debut a sprinkling of new arrangements that are inspired by the holiday season and featured on her upcoming 2017 CD release on the LML Music label.

The Wallis reunites her with her longtime musical partner, Broadway conductor, composer and concert pianist, Philip Fortenberry (HBO's Behind the Candelabra).They will be joined by guest artist, Las Vegas Symphony cellist, Moonlight Tran. Together, they celebrate classical and contemporary writers from Beethoven to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Marvin Hamlisch to Aaron Copland, Rachmaninoff to Frank Wildhorn, Victor Herbert to Stephen Flaherty, Mozart to Jerry Herman, Bach to Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and Irving Berlin to Amy Grant.

As a crossover Artist Rebecca has been a guest soloist with numerous American opera companies, and American symphony engagements that include Carnegie Hall's "Gershwin Centennial" recorded for PBS. She also toured as guest soloist with the Marvin Hamlisch.

Ms. Spencer's Las Vegas debut at the Flamingo Theatre was named as the top concert event of the month by Las Vegas Magazine, and her New York City solo appearances include the venerable Birdland Jazz Club, Don't Tell Mama, the NYC Cabaret Convention at Rose Hall, and the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

With a stage career based out of New York for three decades, Rebecca recently starred as Madame Giry in the world tour of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and stood by this season for Broadway legend Betty Buckley in GREY GARDENS at the Ahmanson. She is an original Broadway cast member of JEKYLL AND HYDE, and created the role of Lisa (Emma) Carew in the world premiere of the Frank Wildhorn musical at the Alley Theatre in Houston. She has appeared internationally as Carlotta in the Hamburg, Germany company of Hal Prince's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and premiered the role of Madame Giry in PHANTOM: THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR, under the direction of Mr. Prince, who described her as "a consummate artist". She has co-starred on THIRD WATCH and LAW AND ORDER: SVU.
