If actor Brian Wallace had more sold-out crowds like he's drawn by producing Kinsherf's Coat, he'd be on stage more often. The thing is, this latest play doesn't have a cast at all.

"It's a play without a play," he says, and somehow it has been filling seats since it opened as part of the Hollywood Fringe on June 9. The annual festival and celebration of all things theatrical officially closed over the weekend, but a few productions have been selected by their venues to continue their runs. Wallace's "pre-show experience" will take the stage once more at the SacRed Fools Studio Space at 8pm on Thursday, June 29.

The idea is pretty simple. Audiences walk into the theater, behold a stage set (designed by scenographers Brittany Blouch and Diane Dwyer), listen to house music and read a playbill. It's just like showing up to attend any play, only in this case the performance never happens. After about 30-45 minutes, the lights go down and the experience is over.

It's called Kinsherf's Coat, named in honor of an actor friend Wallace performed with years ago (and, presumably, his coat), and chosen because it sounded like a play about anything. The playbill also includes a "dramaturgical guide" to the made-up drama, as tongue-in-cheek as it is full of detail and backstory. The last presentation of the official run was sold out a week in advance, and audiences have left universally positive reviews on its Fringe page.

The bonus "non-performance" on June 29 will cost $10, but discounts are unlimited. Using the code "Brian Is A Genius," gets you half off, and the code "Brian Is Sexy," is good for as many free tickets as you want.

"I'm easily flattered," Wallace confesses. "But so far it's time and money well-spent."

A bonus presentation of Kinsherf's Coat takes place June 29 at 8pm, at SacRed Fools Theater Studio Space, 1076 Lillian Way in West Hollywood. For more information, visit www.kinsherfscoat.weebly.com.
