Melchor falls in love with a mysterious veiled lady in a cathedral, simply from a glimpse of her hand. When he meets Magadelena, he is less enamored, not realizing that Magadelena and the veiled lady are one and the same person. A madcap comedy of disguise and deception ensues.

The reading is set for Monday, August 29, 2016, 7pm, at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles.

It was originally commissioned by Playwrights' Arena (PA) for the Golden Tongues series, a PA-partnership with UCLA William Andrews Clark Memorial Library. The aim of the project is to introduce audiences to the treasures of the Hispanic theater tradition by involving Los Angeles playwrights who adapt contemporary interpretations of classical works from the Golden Age of Spanish theater.
