OUR SO-CALLED LOVED ONES, a new dark, twisted, comedic play about murder, sibling rivalry, torture, and musical theatre, is set to world premiere on Hollywood's famed theatre row for a special limited engagement.

The show will run for three performances only from Friday, December 05 - Sunday, December 07, 2014 at 8:00 pm in the Dorie Theatre at The Complex, located at 6476 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90038. For tickets, information, and industry comps, visit osclo.mogulprods.com.

Multi-hyphenates Phillip Russell Newman and Matt Aaron Krinsky teamed to bring this world premiere to the stage with Newman serving as playwright/producer/star and Krinsky directing/producing under his Mogul Productions banner. Along with Newman, the show also stars Mark Reichard and Mandy Morris, all three making their Los Angeles stage debuts.

With numerous acting credits to his name, OUR SO-CALLED LOVED ONES is Newman's first produced work as a playwright. "Creating a story out of nothing then watching it come to life slowly in front of your eyes is pretty indescribable," Newman said. "It's scary, of course, to take something as close to your heart as this show is to mine and put it out there for everyone to judge, but it's comforting to know that I'm doing it surrounded by a group of passionate, dedicated, and talented artists."

Director/producer Krinsky was drawn to this story for its ability to explore a strained family dynamic in the midst of a tragedy while infusing darkly comedic moments and musical theatre elements to mirror the deteriorating mindset of a key character. Krinsky added, "This is the second play in less than a year that provided me the chance to develop and prep a show for its professional debut alongside the playwright. Those opportunities don't come along often and it's simultaneously daunting and exhilarating to be so trusted with someone else's words."

When two brothers, Kevin (Mark Reichard) and Oliver (Phillip Russell Newman), get word of the murder of their sister, Oliver sets out to crack the case himself. Kevin tries to ignore the issue, against the urging of his girlfriend Lola (Mandy Morris), but finds it difficult when their crammed studio apartment starts rapidly turning into a haphazard crime scene investigation before his very eyes. As Oliver slowly loses his mind trying to play detective, he and Kevin are forced to confront some unmentionable family history, ultimately revealing the effect obsession and denial can have on the spectrum of human existence.
