A humping dog, a dead fish, a girl in a pillow skirt, a locked cabinet filled with booze… all appear in Laura Richardson’s new play Come Back. Little Horny.  Richardson (writer of Do Do Love, Open Fist Theatre, 2007 Los Angeles Times Critics Choice) has woven a web of family issues into a lost weekend with layers of truth being pulled back like a rotten artichoke.

Raven Maloney, the successful daughter, returns to her family home for a visit before starting a professorship at Stanford.  She brings her pet dog, Horny, who is nothing but trouble.  Ian and Susan, her parents, built their life as an artistic team, painting together, until a devastating review, “Bologna from Maloney” destroyed Ian’s confidence.  Also residing in the house is the older brother, Loki, the matinee idol of the local musical theatre, and the lovely but loony older sister, Nora.  Neither adult child has ever left the nest.

Raven’s return brings the unexpected announcement of her new book.  An in depth character study of her family, masquerading as a work of fiction.  This sets the weekend ride in motion, as the story in the book has everyone scratching and clawing for each other’s truth.  And their own story in life.  Come Back. Little Horny brings together for the first time on stage, real life married couple Scott Paulin and Wendy Phillips.

Laura Richardson (Playwright) Her theatrical play, Do Do Love, premiered at The Open Fist Theatre in 2007 and received a Los Angeles Times Critic’s Choice review.  Her one woman show, Sweety’s Big Experiment, had its world premiere in Los Angeles at Actors Art Theatre where it garnered a “Critics Pick of the Week.”  Most recently Richardson’s play, Chronic Pain, ran at the award winning Theatre East, her play, Lady Liberty was chosen for a reading at The Abington Theatre in New York City, Life Eats Mikey and Kitty Cornered were both recognized by the Writer’s Digest and Writer’s Network play contests, and her screenplay, Do Do Love, placed in the Scriptapalooza contest.  Along with writing, Laura is also an actor and has done a lot of theatre in LA, including the world premiere of Horton Foote’s play, Harrison, Texas and The Roads to Home, here at The Lost Studio.  She is a graduate of Playhouse West, holds a BA in Theatre Arts from CSUN, and is a company member at Open Fist Theatre, Actors Art Theatre, Playwrights 6, Second Story Theatre, and The Dramatists Guild.

Martha Demson (Director) received her principal theatrical education from Yale University and Sanford Meisner.  For the past decade, she has held the position of Artistic Director at Los Angeles' Open Fist Theatre Company.
