The Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) announces its 20th Annual Stars for the Arts Benefit Dinner and Concert, to take place at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at 6:00pm. The celebratory occasion will feature performances by current LAMusArt students, and Broadway's Carrie St. Louis of Wicked and Rock of Ages acclaim.

Coming off her second successful solo cabaret show "Something Good," St. Louis joins the legacy of LAMusArt's 72 year commitment to providing the East Los Angeles community with equitable, high-quality arts education. Carrie will bring her exceptional vocal range and physical comedy to the Biltmore's Crystal Room for LAMusArt's largest event of the year.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the LAMusArt family and to perform for this amazing community," says St. Louis. She will be accompanied by LAMusArt's Ensembles Director, Austin Chanu, as well as students of LAMusArt's Choir and Orchestras. The performance will follow a video montage of the organization's production of The Lion King Jr. in celebration of LAMusArt's 20th anniversary of Camp MusArt, a five week summer arts enrichment program.

Along with dinner service, a silent auction, a cocktail reception, and concert, LAMusArt will honor Disney Imagineer and Senior Illustrator, Richard Improta, with the Creative Paths in Leadership Award for his accomplishments in art and design in the entertainment industry and his dedicated advocacy for accessible arts programs. Mr. Improta has worked designing parades and spectacles for Disney Parks throughout the world and art directing for numerous television sitcoms - most notably Fox's "Married With Children" and "Unhappily Ever After." In 2006, he joined Disney's Creative Entertainment team as the designer and art director of Tokyo Disney Seas "The Legend of Mythica." Richard has been a supporter of LAMusArt for over five years.

Serving East Los Angeles since 1945, LAMusArt is the only multidisciplinary destination for high-quality arts instruction located in the community. The organization aims to provide equitable arts education to young, at-risk students regardless of their gender, ethnicity, aptitude, or socio-economic status, year-round. LAMusArt's affordable and sequential arts programs- in music, dance, drama and the visual arts - are crucial now more than ever, with public school funding for arts programs decreasing in recent years, and the current political climate threatening the existence of cultural agencies and arts initiatives in underserved communities across the country.

The event is presented in part by Arclight-Pacific Theaters, Union Bank, and Jane & Lou Castruccio.
