JUDY SINGS JUDY Comes To the Joslyn Center Today

BroadwayWorld.com's Critic's Choice Award-Winning show Judy Sings Judy is a theatrical concert starring Judy Ann Moulton that celebrates the music of the legendary Judy Garland. Judy Ann and her pianist will bring to life the classic Judy Garland catalog of songs for one show only on June 12, 2011 at 2 PM, at the Arthur Newman Theatre at the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert, California. Directing the production is David Hunter Koch, noted national director and playwright, and the creator and producing director of Seattle's preeminent cabaret theatre, Cabaret De Paris from 1988-2003.

A 2010 alumnus of the prestigious International Cabaret Conference at Yale University, Judy Ann draws from every facet of Ms. Garland's career in radio, movies, television, and the concert stage, and she promises to entertain audiences as she performs the songs of Judy Garland, in her own rich, expressive voice that has been described as "nothing short of amazing" (Seattle Times). Judy Ann has performed this original program to enthusiastic audiences in her hometown of Seattle, and in places as far away as Winchester, England. A member of Actors Equity Association and the Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association, Judy Ann has been performing on Pacific Northwest stages for over 20 years, including the 5th Avenue, Village Theatre, Bellevue Civic Theatre, and Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre. Some of Judy's favorite roles so far are Princess Puffer in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Old Lady in Candide, Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the title role in Mame.

In this production, Judy Ann takes a look back to her inspiration for singing: her family full of professional singers, and The Judy Garland Show on CBS-TV that introduced Judy Ann to the music that inspired her and her family. Judy Garland was a phenomenal performer and a Hollywood legend, whose talent continues to inspire generations of performers, and Judy Sings Judy is Judy Ann's tribute to the great songstress.

Mark Rabe (Music Director) is over the moon about getting to play these tunes for this lady. Over 20-some years in Seattle theatre, selected music direction credits include Oh, Coward! at Seattle Rep; Goblin Market at ACT; Rich Gray's Forbidden Xmas at Tacoma Actor's Guild; Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Goodnight Moon and others for Seattle Children's Theatre; Follies (with Judy Ann), Barnum, Flora the Red Menace, Do I Hear A Waltz?, Anyone Can Whistle for Showtunes Theatre Co.; and Ragtime; Red, Hot & Cole; On The Town; How To Succeed... at Civic Light Opera. He made his stage-directing debut with Closer Than Ever at C.L.O. Also an actor, his favorite roles include: WilLiam Carney in A Man Of No Importance (Showtunes Theatre), Cosme McMoon in Souvenir (SecondStory Rep, and Actors Rep in Spokane), Hamlet (White Raven Productions), The Snake in Children of Eden (Civic Light Opera), Arthur in Camelot (Village Theatre, many years ago).

"Judy Sings Judy" is being presented by Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret "Sundays In Summer" Series at The Arthur Newman Theatre located in The Joslyn Center, 73-750 Catalina Way in Palm Desert.
