It's comedy and music (together at last) at the Los Angeles venue, Bar Lubitsch, on Monday, May 2nd as award-winning comedy songwriter Mike Hadge hosts a concert of his work, HOW ARE THESE SONGS (AND WHY?): THE MUSIC (?) OF MIKE HADGE.

For the last seven years, Hadge's unique combination of comedy and music has delighted and confused New York audiences, with songs ranging from funhouse-mirror rock to twisted country-folk to "why-would-anyone-sing-that" musical theater. Hadge's songs are less "musical comedy," and more "songs that happen to be funny" (there is a difference). After building a catalogue of songs in New York, Hadge will unleash his tunes on an unsuspecting Los Angeles audience for the first time, with help from a roster of powerhouse local singers. Together, they will attempt to determine just how are these songs (and why)?

Hadge will be joined by the award-winning New York-based songwriting team Selda Sahin and Derek Gregor.

Expected to perform are powerhouse vocalists Donovan Carter, Emily Clark (SLIGHTLY DRAMATIC), Michael Thomas Grant (FOR THE RECORD: DEAR JOHN HUGHES), Jason Peter Kennedy (110 IN THE SHADE), Payson Lewis (THE PEOPLE VS. O.J.SIMPSON), Sherry Mandujano (SHAMELESS), Alli Miller (Cherry Poppins Productions), Walter Winston O'Neil (WICKED original Broadway cast), Emily Schultheis (ISLAND SONG), and Kyra Selman (FIERCE. VIXEN. BITCH.).

Mike Hadge attended Fordham University in the Bronx, NY, where he founded the current sketch group, Free Pizza, and wrote and directed two original musicals - NAZARETH HIGH and FORDHAM: THE MUSICAL. He has served as head songwriter for Off-Broadway and touring variety show THE RESCIGNOS since 2009, for which his work has won numerous awards. Hadge also wrote and co-produced THE RESCIGNOS for a limited Broadway run with the Araca Group (WICKED, ROCK OF AGES), and the show continues to perform around the country. In 2012, Hadge's one-man show, THE MIKE HADGE TRIO'S 7TH REUNION CONCERT was selected for the NYC International Fringe Festival. Off stage, Hadge has written for David Letterman, TruTV, VH1, and a website about dogs, in addition to contributing work to THE DAILY SHOW, SESAME STREET, and BEST WEEK EVER. He currently writes for long-running Off-Broadway comedy, NEWSICAL: THE MUSICAL. His songs have been featured on Buzzfeed, Mandatory, and Funny or Die, among others. He has trained and performed extensively at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater in both New York and Los Angeles.

Sahin and Gregor are best known for writing the music for the sexy and dark 2014 indie musical short film, GRIND, which won a number of awards and featured Broadway favorite Anthony Rapp (RENT, IF/THEN), Claire Coffee (GRIMM), and Pasha Pellosie (THE CARRIE DIARIES). They were finalists in the 16th Annual Great American Song Contest, and several of their songs have been recognized as "Ones To Watch" by the Nashville Songwriters Association.

Tickets are $10 Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Bar Lubitsch is located at 7702 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood.
