Alice Lee (Gap Year; Heathers: The Musical) and Zach Villa (Honeyglue; NCIS: LA; rock band Rebel and a Basketcase, For The Record, Dear John Hughes & Baz) are set to star in hyper-styled new musical, HIPSTER SWEATSHOP. Lee and Villa play twenty-somethings from opposite sides of the track who meet and fall in love in 'Downtown LA's hottest jewelry boutique.' Villa says of his involvement, "I'm always excited by theater projects that push boundaries and are innovative and I'm honored to be part of nurturing this new project to life." Lee adds, "The show is so fun and hilarious... it makes people laugh while tapping into deeper issues, which I think is awesome. And the music is so catchy and dope!"

This "indie-pop Rent for millennials" also features Kalimba Bennett (Revenge), Danielle Bisutti (True Jackson, VP), Michael Thomas Grant (Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Musical), Cassie Hernandez (Melissa & Joey), Brett Wyman (Dumb and Dumber To), Bianca Gisselle (Sirius Black and the Secret Keeper), Zack Colonna (Weiner & Wiener), Aaron Jung (Sideshow), and Safiya Quinley (Private Investigations).

HIPSTER SWEATSHOP is the story of adorable Siri (Lee), who inherits a commercial property in Downtown LA. Her domineering mother Diane (Bisutti) expects her to evict the current tenants to prep for renovations, but Siri is conflicted when she visits the space and is charmed by the staff of millennial tastemakers selling and making high- end jewelry for Parker (Bennett), the fame-obsessed shop-owner. Falling hard for Jesus (Villa), the sexy delivery guy, and bonding with her new co-workers further weakens Siri's resolve to kibosh the spot. A reality show, some delicious vegan donuts, a little class warfare, and a few syncopated hand claps all come into play as the fate of PRKR unfolds... in SONG!

The brainchild of Billboard chart-hitting songwriter Kyle Puccia, actor/recording artist Kurtis Simmons, and actor/author/producer Darryl Stephens, Hipster Sweatshop began as an attempt to write a musical with songs which might also be able to play on the radio, such as "One Night in Bangkok" from Chess or "Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" from Hair.

The two night run features original choreography by the Sweat Spot's Melissa Schade (Night Skate, Showgirls 2: Penny's from Heaven).

Chad Kukahiko (SuperFreako Productions, We Make Movies) produces the August 13 and 14 performances, 8PM at Rockwell Table & Stage, 1714 N. Vermont Avenue, LA 90027. Call (323) 669-1550 or visit tickets.rockwell-la.com to reserve tickets.
